Retro-futurist psychedelic rock
Yonatino is the artist name and solo project of guitarist, multi-instrumentalist and producer Yonatan Nahmias: the distilled sound of vintage rock and psychedelia, carried into a vision of the future. An aesthetic all its own, with cloudy textures that drift from lo-fi to hi-fi. The first songs are on their way.

Psychedelic groove · Africa · the Middle East
Born in 2020 out of weekly jams at House of Records in Tel Aviv: loose, heavy grooves with Mediterranean breaks, later joined by a full horn section. The band has played all-night sets, from midnight to six in the morning.

Classic rock revival
Late-sixties rock 'n' roll, from the British Invasion to Haight Street, played loud and live. The band worked its way up from small clubs to festival stages across Israel.

Instrumental funk & soul
Instrumental soul from the House of Records circle in Tel Aviv: tight, heavy and warm.
Also a member of Jeronimo: watch Live From the Garage, the full session (opens in a new tab)

Yonatan Nahmias started out at the mixing desk, on the knee of his father, Dar Nahmias (Hebrew Wikipedia, opens in a new tab), a musician, producer and sound engineer at Ambience Studios (opens in a new tab). By the age of one he was already moving faders on the console.

Over the years, alongside a lot of learning, he found his place among musicians of every kind and played many styles, next to strong rock ’n’ roll and groove scenes. Today he is a guitarist, multi-instrumentalist and producer. He plays guitar in VuVuVu, Alma Madre, The Flavors and Jeronimo, and is building his own project, Yonatino. His taste runs from psychedelic rock, funk and soul to Middle Eastern and African music.
With VuVuVu he has released records on a variety of labels and co-writes the band’s music, including the 2026 single “Keyif” (VuVuVu feat. Mervealice), and he recorded the single “Children of God” with Karolina. He has worked with JJ Whitefield (Poets of Rhythm) and played from Indie Negev to the Red Sea Jazz Festival, and live on Kan Gimel, Galgalatz and Galei Tzahal.
He has also played bass for Itamar Levy, guitars on his father’s records, and made music for the game PUCKVPUCK. Since 2019 he has taught guitar, bass and drums and coached bands.
